A delegation of Norwegian officials repaid the visit of UP leaders and TTO staff from December last year. The prominent functionaries from Prekubator Technology Transfer Office, University Hospital and the University of Stavanger took part in a two-day professional program at the University of Pécs.

The guests visited various facilities of the university - according to the plan created by the Technology Transfer Office, and their first destination was the University Clinical Centre.

Dr. Kovács L. Gábor

First they were given a welcome speech by the two of the vice-rectors, Dr. Gábor L. Kovács and Dr. László Komlósi, then they had the opportunity to listen to three lectures about the innovation strategy of the University of Pécs (by Dr. Gábor L. Kovács), the Clinical Centre (by Dr. Tibor Ertl), and the English Education Program (Dr. Miklós Nyitrai). The presentations ended with round-table discussion. Afterwards Dr. Gábor L. Kovács provided a tour at the Laboratory Medicine.

Discussion

The rest of the morning hours was spent at the Heart Institute, where the guests were casted a glance into the ongoing world standard operation - and all these not only with the help of the members of the institution, but by following a live on-screen open heart surgery.

Heart Surgery

The afternoon was spent by a series of professional lectures: Dr. Zsuzsanna Helyes gave a speech about the new research centre of the university, the Science Building, István Kistelegdi Jr. explained the architectural novelties of the same building, but there was also a presentation about the major field of research at the University of Pécs by Dr. Róbert Gábriel. The Norwegian side was represented by Stein Tore Nielsen and Per Ramvi - the former talked about the clinical research activities at the University Hospital in Stavanger, and the latter introduced the University of Stavanger.

Dr. Helyes Zsuzsanna

The second day was mostly about the introduction of Technology Transfer Office, its achievements, best practices - for instance the Knowledge Map and the InnoPoint system. The latter was particularly interesting for the Norwegian delegation, since they are int he process of establishing a similar network, so they had a lot of questions to ask in connection with it.

Round Table

The programme had an unanimously positive outcome in general, and it proved to be pronouncedly useful. From the side of the University of Pécs there was an explicit demand on getting acquainted more deeply with the portfolio of the University of Stavanger on behalf of becoming able to determine the field suitable for cooperation. The representatives of the Norwegian university was happy about the enquiry, and promised to take the necessary steps in this respect. Furthermore they liked the TTO's innovation management training organised for PhD students very much, so the first point of intersection might be an elaboration of a mutual PhD course, within the scope of which students from both higher education institutions might spend some time at on both universities.
